From Thin Air to Money
As we farewell a year that rivals those where the Black Death ravaged Europe or the Spanish Flu tried to rival World War I by sending extra souls to join their maker, it’s worth noting that money matters continued to operate nationally and internationally, and the “normal” prevailed, sort of.
While schools and restaurants were closed by governments of all colours, no stock exchanges shut down and those who earn their livings in this area heaved collective sighs of relief that they didn’t work in hospitality or travel.
The magic ability to create money out of thin air has allowed some vestiges of “normal” to be part of our lives but economists will have a field day in advising governments around the world to get us back to normal.
