Do You Want To Be A Millionaire?
In this instance I won’t argue about the amount of assets or income (or both) that bestow the millionaire label but I think that those of us who don't have a lot of either would agree that a real millionaire has an awful lot of both.
I never cease to be amazed at the automatic response by some people to the question “Who wants to be a millionaire?” is “Everyone!” This is simply not the case.
Having a very large asset backing (including money in the bank) should bring with it social responsibility, but social responsibility does not rest only with the millionaires in our society.
Most wealthy people pay significant (though not necessarily huge) amounts of tax. Clearly this represents one form of social responsibility.
I received an email from an old school mate a couple of weeks ago citing this rule – “Money cannot buy happiness, but it’s more comfortable to cry in a Mercedes than on a bicycle”.
