Culture & money

My maths teacher at school believed that “culture” was a waste of time and money, and we should concentrate on reading (a bit), working (a bit) and arithmetic (lots). The amount of money that members of our society have accumulated or inherited seems to fascinate journalists and their readers. Every time I attend an opera performance or visit an art gallery or an orchestral concert I say a little prayer of thanks to the generous donors without whom we would be a very uncultured mob.

Mindless Investing

Because I have two artificial knee-caps I ring the bells every time. Job creation, that is meaningful job creation, is a far more important task for governments of any colour to execute, and that is to ensure that nobody starves to death.
